My photo
Su Trindle is a British designer and maker of sculptural modern silver and resin jewellery. My favourite place to be is my small workshop in my garden. I work alone, singing along to the radio striving to create beautiful well-designed, contemporary jewellery and make a living at it. This last is important, not just to my creativity and ego but to help feed by boys and the dog.

Etsy Birthday

Yup! I've been on etsy one whole year.
It's been a huge and positive learning curve. I really have found some kindred spirits, which is essential when you work on your own out in a garden shed! And lovely customers, too who are so fantastically supportive.
To celebrate I've designed these acorn earrings. Y'know how sentimental I am about oaks, so much that I named my company after them .

I'm so excited!
The brilliant Kerry Wilkinson of pennydog has included some of my work in her new book.
"Create your own Resin Jewellery" is an inspiring step by step guide to making 12 great new resin projects.
The e book is available or you can now pre-order a proper paperback to have and hold.
So if you've ever fancied trying out resin now is your chance to join in the fun.

This is Sarah's print. It's so lively and it makes me smile.

Last night I went to see the fabulous Bellowhead play in Bath.
These 11 fantastic and distinctly individual musicians produce a charged, energetic party atmosphere and their folk songs have macabre lyrics that would make a goth blanche. They're on tour, go on , you'll dance your heart out. And there was hardly a beardy weirdy in site. http://www.bellowhead.co.uk/

Geometric Ring

Denise's Ring
Originally uploaded by Quercus Silver
OK. It's purple and almost there.
After polishing and wet and dry papers and more polishing.
It takes so much longer to finish than to make these rings, or any jewellery. You spend hours removing every mark you've made,

Geometric ring in the making

I wear one of these resin rings most days. I love the joyous chunkiness

I've had great fun making them in many colours . This one is a commission and is going to be.....wait and see.

At the moment it's soldered and waiting to be pickled to remove the black oxides.

Office closed? View from the kitchen

So this was the view last week.
I have a heater but it takes ages to warm up.
I need at least 2 cups of coffee, one woolly hat and a pair of mittens before I'll brave it.
It was pretty though.

My workbench was made by my lovelybloke. I love the way it's filling up with tools and pots and artwork and detritus. I'm in the middle of some resin making here.

A space of my own

This is my beautiful workshop at the end of the garden. It's under an old apple tree (you can see some windfalls in this pic) and I am very happy when I'm working here. The prayer flags were made by my boys.
