Su Trindle is a British designer and maker of sculptural modern silver and resin jewellery. My favourite place to be is my small workshop in my garden. I work alone, singing along to the radio striving to create beautiful well-designed, contemporary jewellery and make a living at it. This last is important, not just to my creativity and ego but to help feed by boys and the dog.

RAW 3/52 Dark Spiral

RAW 3/52 Dark Spiral

Sooooo, this simple but very long spiral ring is made from leftover steel wire. This weekend I bought myself a new camera, a Canon G12 , it took this photograph in the dark. I am really pleased with it, I'm afraid you can expect a lot of moody shots while I play with all the buttons..

RAW 2/52 - Corner

This ring is my second for the "Ring a Week" challenge.
It's a simple square of sterling silver with a square wire band.
My inspiration came from the pocket of my work apron, which often hides odd bits of half-finished jewellery. I imagined a precious stone, wrapped in a handkerchief for safe keeping..
The setting is quite secure, the stone is seated in a square hole and the work-hardened fold holds it in place. Sadly, I cracked the original triangular citrine cabochon, but this little square green zirconium is nearly as good.
I'm feeling really positive about this challenge, less pressure than Ring a Day and more room to play - I hope.

Ring a Week

This ring is made of 2 lengths of steel wire fed through a sliver tube which I lined with rubber tubing. The Japanese koji paper is glued and sealed in place. It is water resistant, too

Last year I made rings with a lot of alternative materials and I think this year I will use this challenge to experiment, too.
What do you think?

Happy New Challenge

RAd 142 The Last Waltz

I enjoyed the fun of making a new ring everyday from any material any method. I made 142of the 365 and used everything from business cards and leather scraps to gold and steel.
Some, a very select few, made it to 365/365 rings and have become so addicted that Tomi of MetalRiot created a new challenge for 2011
It's called RAW or Ring a Week. Take a peek on Flickr, join in, you don't need to be a metalsmith just looking for a creative boost to your New Year.
